All Along The San Juan River Gallery
| Classic San Juan Anthropomorphic Style Basketmaker II images were pecked, carved, and incised on the cliff faces above the San Juan River at Butler Wash. The figures are broad-shouldered and 4 to 5 feet tall. A variety of spectacular headdresses, torso decorations, multi-stranded necklaces, fringed waistbands, and bandoliers adorn the images. At the bottom of the panel are articles with loop-handles that may represent flayed scalps, heads, or medicine bags. |
