Jornada Mogollon Gallery
An outline type of Jornada Mogollon ceremonial mask was painted on a shallow overhang at Hueco Tanks. "Hueco" is Spanish for hollows. The three syenite boulder mountains in the Chihuahuan desert in west Texas contain numerous depressions, hollows, and fissures that may contain water for weeks or months. This dependable water source attracted animals and humans for thousands of years.
