Fremont Gallery

Southern San Rafael Style Fremont images along the Fremont River Gorge at Capitol Reef National Park have typical trapezoidal torsos.  Horned headdresses, ear bobs, and necklaces complete the dress. The Fremont culture occupied the part of Utah northwest of the Colorado River as well as a small portion of southern Wyoming and Idaho from 400 CE to 1300 CE. Fremont rock art styles are divided culturally into six regions: Uinta, Great Salt Lake, Northern San Rafael, Southern San Rafael, Parowan, and Sevier (Slifer 2000).
