Largo Rincon Largo Canyon Dinetah
Obvious vandalism. Using a stone cutter a one-armed individual cut away several rock paintings to sell on the black market. Note the stars on the kilt of the middle ye'i image. This is a sacred site, probably a shrine, where ceremonies and rituals were held by Navajos. The vandalism and desecration for profit is a sad commentary on the "dominant culture". The red painted holy person on the right is either Red god or Born-for-Water. |
